Using Reflective Logs / Journals to Encourage Students in Undergraduate Research Modules in History

Author: Di Drummond

Type: Case Study

The project seeks to develop students' appreciation of learning processes involved in their own learning styles, and recognition of the range of transferable skills they acquire. This will be achieved through the use of group activities and personal reflective learning logs for students undertaking the History undergraduate independent study (level 2) or the level 3 History dissertation. The project will build on previous years' modules which, although including student-centred group discussion and use of logs/calendars, lacked consideration of the development of transferable skills.
