Plus ca change, plus cest la meme chose: The New History Data Service
Author: Richard Deswarte
Type: Conference Presentation
The History Data Service (HDS) seamlessly re-emerged following the removal of funding from the AHRC in the spring of 2008 for the AHDS, including the HDS’s predecessor AHDS History. The remodelled HDS remains based in the UK Data Archive at Essex and continues to support and build on its extensive collection of over 650 historical data studies covering a wide range of topics from the seventh to the twentieth centuries including special collections such as the 1881 Census, HPEW (Historical Parishes of England and Wales) and histpop (British and Irish 19th and 20th century historical population reports). This presentation will consider the effects of changed funding, highlight existing studies and describe new projects currently underway. |
