The Numerical Skills of Todays History Undergraduates
Author: David Nicholls, Geoff Timmins and Roger Lloyd-Jones
Type: Conference Presentation
The presenters are halfway through a three-year National Teaching Fellowship collaborative project Every Student Counts which is exploring the teaching of numerical skills in three discipline areas: history, bioscience and business studies. Their focus is the history area and, using evidence from an extensive survey of history departments, they will examine the extent to which single honours undergraduate programmes introduce and develop the numerical skills of students, identifying both strengths and deficiencies. The session will conclude with a summary of the key issues that are emerging from the project and with an invitation to delegates to assist in addressing some of them. |
