Collaborative and Joint Studentships

In addition to the pathway specific studentships, the Midlands Graduate School DTP will offer a number of Collaborative Studentships involving research or other activities with external public, private or third sector organisations. As part of the Midlands Graduate School, we also offer a number of Joint ESRC DTP Studentships. Students will be fully registered and hosted at one of the Midlands Graduate School institutions, but will have a second supervisor at another MGS institution.

The deadline for academics wishing to submit a Collaborative or Joint proposal has now passed. Information on supervisor-led opportunities for entry in October 2024 will be made available around October 2023.

Information regarding any further projects for entry in October 2023 will be made available below should they become available.

ADR UK Studentships

ADR UK is delighted to announce the 20 PhD studentship opportunities to be hosted by supervisors across 13 of the ESRC DTPsLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window. These PhD studentships will use ADR UK’s new linked flagship datasets Link opens in a new windowLink opens in a new windowto answer policy-relevant research questions. Students will begin their PhDs in October 2023 and will be funded through an investment of £1.9 million from ADR UK.

MGS is pleased to confirm that we have three projects in this category; one funded fully by ADR UK, which is currently open for applications, and two further projects funded by the MGS. All three students and their supervisory teams will be fully incorporated into ADR UK's cohort building and support structures, as well as being integrated fully into the life of the DTP.
