Provision of Training
Training will be supervised by a combination of my self and experienced members of my team, leading to increasing independence as time goes.
Progression Monitoring and Management
Initially I will set out my expectations of your progression on a weekly basis, with you transitioning to setting your own milestones as the project progresses. If expectations/milestones are not met we will discuss potential barrier and strategies to help meet project milestones.
Communication
I expect regular communication from group members, e.g. if they have a problem/concern I expect them to contact me. I am available by Teams Chat, email, and happy to have people stop by my office.
PhD Students can expect scheduled meetings with me:
In a group meeting
At least once per week
In year 1 of PhD study
At least once per week
In year 2 of PhD study
At least once per week
In year 3 of PhD study
At least once per week
These meetings will be a mixture of face to face and via video chat or telephone, and I am usually contactable for an instant response on every working day.
Working Patterns
The timing of work in my lab is completely flexible, and (other than attending pre-arranged meetings), I expect students to manage their own time.
Notice Period for Feedback
I need at least 2 weeks' notice to provide feedback on written work of up to 5000 words.
