3rd Annual Digital Pathology and AI showcase

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, I attended the 3rd annual Digital Pathology and AI showcase event titled "Digital Pathology Algorithms (DP and AI): Are we looking at the patient journey?", sponsored by Roche Diagnostics UK and Ireland. The event was an insightful exploration of how digital pathology and AI algorithms are transforming healthcare, with a particular focus on improving the patient journey.

Key activities included a session on the patient journey from a clinician's perspective, which highlighted the practical challenges and opportunities in integrating digital pathology tools into routine clinical practice. There were also presentations on the latest advancements in digital pathology, demonstrating how AI and computational pathology algorithms are being increasingly adopted in clinical settings to enhance diagnosis and treatment.

A medical and scientific poster showcase allowed for rich discussions on emerging research in the field. I was particularly impressed by the hands-on experience at the Pathology end-to-end solutions marketplace, where we got a chance to interact with cutting-edge tools that are shaping the future of pathology.

As part of this event, I also had the opportunity to present my work titled "Social Network Analysis for Histology Images." This presentation focused on applying social network analysis techniques to histopathological images, offering a novel approach to understanding the tumour microenvironment and its implications for disease progression and molecular pathways. The feedback and engagement from peers and experts were invaluable, adding new dimensions to the conversation on how computational tools can enhance the precision of pathology workflows.
