Susie Cant

Susie Cant is a PhD student in the EPSRC-funded MathSys Centre for Doctoral Training at Warwick.

Susie is studying the evolutionary and epidemiological consequences of co infection: the simultaneous presence of two or more infectious agents in a population. Susie is considering three case studies as part of her PhD:

(i) Can co -infection account for the particular pattern of mortality observed during a devastating historical measles epidemic on the island of Rotuma?

(ii) Can co-infection between Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax malaria impact the evolution of alpha thalassaemia in humans?

(iii) How will co-infection between Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax malaria impact the observed decline of both diseases, in regions eliminating malaria?
