Academic PromotionLink opens in a new window

Key dates for 2023/24

  • Notify the Department if you intend to apply for promotion.
  • Submit your full application & CV (using the CV template) for comments to Ann Dixon.
  • ACPPCLink opens in a new window will convene - Tuesday 16th January 2024.
  • Deputy HoD/HoD comments will be sent to applicants no later than Friday 19 January 2024.
  • Friday 26 January 2024 - Deadline by which applications should be sent to Academic Processes (academicprocesses@warwick.ac.uk), copying in Ann.Dixon@warwick.ac.uk
  • Where possible outcomes will be communicated to applicants by the end of the Summer term.
  • 1st August 2024 - Date from which promotions are effective.

The new criteria are based on the following four areas of activity:

  • Research & Scholarship
  • Teaching & Learning
  • Impact, Outreach, Engagement
  • Collegiality, Leadership & Management

These criteria have been designed to provide transparent information on what is needed to successfully achieve probation. The criteria clearly outline the expectation for each area at every level of promotion, and in conjunction with the career pathway matrixLink opens in a new window, enabling individuals to proactively manage their successful completion of probation, and on-going career.

Academic Staff (regardless of career pathway) at FA7 and above may apply for a period of Academic Leave. The three types of leave available are:

  • Study Leave
  • Leave to Accept a Research Award
  • Unpaid leave of Absence

Key Dates for 2023/24

  • Notify Ann Dixon of your intention to submit an application.
  • Submit your academic leave application form to Ann Dixon no later than Wednesday 31st January 2024.
  • Applications will be considered by the Senior Leadership Team with feedback given to applicants by Tuesday 6th February 2024 (or soon thereafter).
  • Approved requests sent to Academic Processes by Ann Dixon by Thursday 29th February 2024.
