Prof Surapong Chirarattananon PhD (assisted by Dr Pattana Rakkwamsuk) is in the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE) which is very active in research concerning energy conservation in buildings, daylighting and related topics in Thailand. He has been involved in many recent related projects in association with companies and with Thai government ministries - for example the development of a 20-year Energy Conservation Plan for Thailand and of a Higher Energy Performance Standard for Buildings, and the mandatory Energy Labelling of Appliances. Recent papers include ones on thermal comfort assessment and application of radiant cooling, on energy modelling of buildings and on use of desiccants. He has an interest in vernacular architecture and its techniques of achieving thermal comfort in a hot humid climate.
