Agenda

Both chronic respiratory infections and chronic respiratory diseases take away the lives of far too many globally each year. While there are initiatives focused on specific infections and diseases, there are still many challenges associated with the synergistic relationship between chronic respiratory infections and diseases.

The Respiratory Infections Sparking Chronic Diseases industry event day aims to bring together members of academia and industry to showcase and discuss their expertise on diagnosis, pathophysiology and treatment nuances and techniques for both chronic respiratory infections and diseases.

The final session of the day will highlight the challenges associated with these synergistic relationships and together with all the participants through collaboration, a potential framework to provide the next steps to solve these challenges will be made.

  • Chronic respiratory infections
  • Historical perspectives of respiratory infections / diseases
  • Nuances in diagnosis/monitoring and modelling approaches
  • Nuances in pathophysiology and treatment
  • Forming strong collaborations within respiratory research

Eligibility & Registration

Anyone from academia (undergraduate students to professors) and industry (biotech, hospitals, pharmaceutical, etc.) are welcome to attend for free.

Oral / Poster Presentation Competition

Students are encouraged to submit for either oral or poster presentations

  • A short summary (200 words) on their research is required (deadline: Tuesday 31st March 2026)
  • Top 4 oral presentation submissions will present on the day and will be awarded £50 each
  • Best oral presentation will be awarded an extra £150*
  • Best poster presentation will be awarded £100*

*Prizes will be announced at the end of the day.
