Silicon Carbide Network Conference 2026
Industry Engagement Network Event
We are pleased to announce the upcoming UK Silicon Carbide Network Conference, hosted by the REWIRE Network team, to take place on DATE TBC at the University of Warwick.
Uniting the UK SiC Ecosystem For the first time, we are convening the entire UK Silicon Carbide community—spanning world-leading academic research, wafer and device manufacturing, equipment suppliers, module developers, and end-user OEMs.
Our Mission This conference serves as a definitive national platform to articulate a shared vision for SiC in the UK. By connecting stakeholders from early-stage innovation to high-volume deployment, we aim to:
- Showcase Capabilities: Demonstrate the growing depth and maturity of the UK SiC supply chain.
- Accelerate Growth: Stimulate technical and commercial collaborations that smooth the path from research to scale-up.
- Build the Workforce: Align academic, industrial, and policy perspectives to address skill gaps and training pathways.
- Influence Strategy: Engage government representatives and funding bodies to cement SiC’s role in the UK’s semiconductor and industrial strategies.
The program will be confirmed in [June 2026].
The following themes will be integrated across the two days:
Showcase of UK capabilities.
- Device Innovation, Epitaxy & Manufacturing
- Enabling Technologies: Design (EDA), Equipment & Metrology
- Packaging, Integration & Reliability
- Beyond Power: Photonics, Quantum & Harsh Environments
- The End-User Perspective: System Integration & Demand
The UK’s Place in a Global Supply Chain
- Analyzing the UK’s competitive position amidst the US, EU, and China Chips Acts.
- Assessing global supply chain dynamics, resilience, and the impact of geopolitical shifts on the UK sector.
Future Horizons: Academia as a Disrupter
- How can UK academia "move the dial" on SiC technology?
Sustainability & Net Zero: The Circular SiC Economy
- Addressing the environmental footprint of the industry.
- Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), circular electronics, reusability of SiC modules, and the path to Net Zero fabrication.
Bridging the "Valley of Death": Prototyping to Scale-Up
- Discussing access to pilot lines and open-access foundries. How do we move innovations from TRL 3 to TRL 7 efficiently within the UK ecosystem?
The Talent Pipeline:
- Aligning industry needs with academic curricula, retraining silicon engineers, and developing technician apprenticeships
We look forward to welcoming you to Warwick in TBC 2026.
