Visit to Roke Manor Research

Today a few team members visited Roke Manor Research near Southampton. We learnt a lot about Roke's experience in the space industry and gave them a presentation on our project.

Facebook and Twitter accounts created

WUSAT now has Facebook and Twitter accounts to give more ways to follow the team's progress.

Sponsors and milestone report completed

WUSAT now has two confirmed sponsors, Lyncolec and SolidWorks, who we are looking forward to working with. Their details are listed on the Sponsors page.Recently the team completed a milestone report comprising of the aims of the project and progress so far. Initially efforts focussed on deciding the project's aims, preliminary research and contacting potential sponsors. Now the team are working on establishing the CubeSat prototype specification.

Launch of the WUSAT Project

Leading on from our experience in the ESMO project, the University of Warwick is embarking on a multi-year MEng undergraduate program to produce a CubeSat that we hope to eventually launch into orbit. Our aims for the Warwick University Satellite (WUSAT) Team 2012/13 project are as follows:

  • Adapt our existing ESMO EPS design to work on a smaller scale
  • Prototype the framework of a CubeSat
  • Conduct a test launch using a weather balloon in Spring 2013, with a camera as a representative payload
