Following on from our recent post about our very own inspiring women we are continuing the theme with this article from www.wearewater.org about water and sanitation and gender quality.

It is not possible to achieve equality and gender justice without water and sanitation. There are millions of women who do not enjoy this human right, which is essential for their survival and dignity.

It highlights the essential need to look more closely at this topic if we are to move further towards achieving equality and gender justice. This topic is discussed in different ways in a number of our modules, most notably in these core modules for all our Programmes;

One Humanity; Shared Responsibility – this module looks at the role of women in society is discussed, as well as exploring social segregation, discrimination and particularly the status of women in developed and underdeveloped modern societies.

An Introduction to Global Health - gender equality and health services are discussed and explored, as well as considering universal coverage and accessibility to health services.

Water and Environmental Management – explores sanitation as the hygienic means of promoting health through prevention of human contact with the hazards of wastes as well as the treatment and proper disposal of sewage or wastewater.
