The unforgettable bag

The "unforgettable bag"

British supermarket group Tesco has launched their "unforgettable bag" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia based on bags with barcodes, every time a customer reuses the bag, they get a discount on their purchase from Tesco supermarket.

Azliza Baizura Azmel, a director at Tesco Malaysia, said 70 percent of customers have their own carrier bags but leave them in the car rather than bringing them into the store.

We follow this idea of what our global responsibility is to respond to the humanitarian challenges we face. This is an example of Tesco a large multinational corporation has chosen to encourage a society to become an "advocate for the environment".

On their website when asked why they have launched the campaign Tesco replied;

We launch this campaign because we want to encourage to reuse and recycle. We would like our customers to go on the journey with us by reusing the bags and eventually become advocate for the environment. With this campaign, we hope to raise the awareness of the environmental impact of single use plastic bags as a way to encourage our customers to reuse the bags for when they shop at Tesco.
