Education for a New Generation

We think encouraging an early interest in our global community and the roles we can play is vitally important.

Here is a group photo with our Programme Director Dr. Georgia Kremmyda at the end of a great residential week when we hosted the Smallpeice Trust and 60 girls from year 10/11. We explored how Humanitarian Engineering can change the world! We got to find out about how Humanitarian Engineers can make a positive impact in critical situations and can help people to live safely and securely. It provided a chance to find out about, and have a go at seeing what technology development can do, from earthquake resistant housing to mapping in emergencies. We looked at the complexity of water and came up with holistic solutions to solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Most importantly, we investigated how traditional engineering links with other disciplines so we can deliver benefit to those in most need.

Thank you to the Smallpeice Trust, the Royal Commission and all the girls who attended a week at the University of Warwick. We hope you all had a great time, feedback from those who led sessions think that you will be “the future change makers”!
