My Research

Cooperative perception is the concept of gathering information from multiple sources to better understand ones environment. An autonomous vehicle will typically have a large suite of on-board sensors such as camera, lidar, and radar, to help it understand it's surroundings. However a single vehicle in isolation could easily miss important information due to occlusion or the limits of the sensors range. However if a vehicle or relevant infrastructure is able to share it's perception data with other vehicles, than a much larger, and clearer understand can be built of not only immediate surrounding but longer range journeys.

My research two main goals:

- How can co-operative perception between vehicles, infrastructure, and robotic chargers be implemented to automate parking and charging functions within commercial depots.

- How does automating depots in this way affect efficiency (both in terms of energy and time) of commercial operations.
