Biography

Hakan is a MPhil/PhD student in Intelligent Vehicles group at WMG. He received a BSc and an MSc in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus.

Research

Hakan's research title is ''Introspection for Perception Modules in Automated Driving Systems".

His project is focusing on investigating the methods to monitor and detect cases where the perception modules' interpretation of their environment is unreliable. Since the state-of-the-art perception modules cannot guarantee reliable performance in post-deployment despite their high performance on benchmark datasets, such monitoring systems are required to provide fail-safeness and resilience to automated driving systems.

Previously, he worked on human activity recognition for e-Health applications wearable and ambient sensors.
