Abstract

The special theory of relativity suggests that mass and energy are but different manifestations of the same thing -- a somewhat unfamilar conception for the average mind. Another unfamiliar concept (FSTM excepted) is that engineers, microbiolgists and chemists communicate and work with each other. However, just as Einstein deriving e=mc2 showed that very small amounts of mass may be converted into a very large amount of energy, even small amounts of collaboration between emc might enable very significant jumps forward in understanding. This is an outline of my interests in microbiology that are attempting to make these connections.
