Ms Research Project A new bioconjugation agent
I am currently working on my Research project under the supervision of Martin Wills. The project involves a study of their attachment to a range of proteins, together with the analysis of the properties of the resulting products. Analysis of the products is undertaken using electrospray mass spectrometry, which is a technique particularly well suited to protein analysis. Afterwards, if there is enough time I will be using circular dichroism (CD) to analysis the effect of the strained alkyne on the protein tertiary structure and NMR for structural analysis. Overall, a rapid picture will be established of the effectiveness of the new bioconjugation agents on example proteins using a range of analytical methods, and of the potential value of the methodology for the development of diagnostic agents for medical applications.
