Jonathan Rawlins, Maths and Economics 2001-2004

I studied an undergraduate Maths and Economics degree whilst at Warwick and then extended my time by taking an MA in International Political Economy. I finally tore myself away from Warwick and I am now working as a Money Market and Foreign Exchange Dealer for HSBC and am enjoying the stressful life of the trading floor. London is fun but hectic and expensive and I’m very jealous of my mates that are still studying! Life now is mainly made up of working but I do get evenings and weekends free-until exams start next year.

I’m currently living in Canary Wharf which makes the early starts more bearable because I can still get up at the last possible minute (one of the major lessons learnt at uni). I’m living with two other Warwick graduates, Jon Bradfield and Dave Marshall, and they too work long hours in the city. We’ll all be coming back for the WGA Christmas Party and hope to see some of the 2001 intake there. I live in the box room now, but the rest of the house is fantastic with our own docking space and balcony’s front and back, which will be great in the summer.

Warwick has been a fantastic start to the working world and the University is clearly well respected, its great to have such a prestigious uni on my CV.
