Minority Ethnic Backgrounds

WMS is committed to all our students achieving the best in their studies irrespective of ethnicity, background or characteristics. We have committed a lot of resources into this and we are already seeing the success of working with various student groups, networks and societies. The awarding gap group has an overarching role in monitoring this and are happy to be contacted for information, support and welcome student participation.

Message from Yaseen (President), Tamannah and Sophia (Vice Presidents) WMS BME Network Welfare Officer

The WMS NEMMS (Network for Ethnic Minority Medical Students) has been a key society in helping to build a wider support network through meeting other Ethnic Minority students from all different years. As a network, our role focuses on working with students to promote a safe and nurturing environment within the medical school for those from ethnic minority backgrounds. We aim to provide a sense of community through hosting various events, talks, gatherings, and working with other societies across WMS. This is a space in which you will always find support, in whatever shape or form.

Please feel free to reach out if if you have any questions or just want a chat through our instagram or email (linked above).

Warwick Muslims Medics Society

As-salamu alaykum! Warwick Muslim Medics are proud to offer a supportive and inclusive community for Muslim medical students at WMS. Through our events we aim to foster both personal, religious and professional growth of Muslim students while at medical school. We run a range of events throughout the academic year, including social events, an annual community iftar for everyone at WMS, talks and lectures, and exam revision sessions. As a society, we provide an avenue through which Muslim students at WMS can share their experiences and concerns and ensure their views are represented within the medical school. We look forward to welcoming you this September, insha'Allah!

The Muslim Student Guide to Warwick Medical School is a comprehensive guide developed by fellow WMS Muslim medical students. You can also find out more about the society on our webpages
