Revision Block

Advanced Clinical Cases (ACC)

Revision Block

What is ACC?

ACC is a 6 week block. You will be based in UHCW for 3 weeks and at either Warwick Hospital OR George Eliot Hospital for 3 weeks. Allocations will be available some time in October.

During this 6 weeks block, you will have both scheduled activities, which may include revision lectures, anatomy / imaging revision sessions, communication skills practice, clinical skills lab, and mock-OSLERs, and lots of opportunity for self-directed learning / revision.

Note: Every student will have 2 mock OSLERs and receive feedback on their performance. We highly recommend attending as this is the closest to OSLERs as you can get!

Tips and Advice

Health and Wellbeing

It is important to take care of yourself during this busy period. Do remember to schedule time for lots of breaks and to focus on your wellbeing.

LAP Criteria

Practice your OSLERs using the Leicester Assessment Package (LAP) marking criteria as early as possible - as this is how you will be assessed in your OSLERs.

Here is the link to download the LAP scribble sheet if you don't have access already.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Practice makes perfect! Make use of all your opportunities in and out of hospital and try to gain as much feedback as possible, particularly during your mock-OSLERs.

Don't forget to keep practicing your clinical skills and attend the open lab sessions organised by your Trust.

The clinical skills team at UHCW has created amazing resources which will help during revision - click here to see them.

We have also created a short guide on Phase 3 Exams and Resources too!

Dr Perkin's Teaching

Sign up to Dr Perkin's teaching in ACC, especially if you have not had his teaching before during your MSK block.

His teaching is intense, but so useful - especially as he covers a lot of general medicine and exam tips!
