I had a meeting with the surgeon this evening who was both impressive and a lovely man. As a result of yesterday's CT scan they can see that the swelling on the right side of his brain has improved and hoppefully will improve further. So the current 'plan' is to continue with Mark being sedated for 4-5 more days. Then they would remove the sedation over a further period of time and would not expect him to 'wake up' particularly quickly thereafter. He talked about probably doing a tracheostomy within the next 2 days in preparation for Mark needing help with breathing after the sedation is reduced. The surgeon did encourage Elisabeth and me to visit Australia as we have been discussing.
