Fibrous protein research
Fibrous proteins include microtubules and actin in the cytoskeleton, collagen and amyloid fibres. A number of students are working on projects in this field using a wide variety of molecular biology and biophysical techniques.
Raul Pacheco Gomez
has studied the bacterial tubulin homologue FtsZ using circular dichroism, electron microscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy.
Jonathan Armond
is studying microtubule force generation using atomic force microscopy, electron microscopy and differential interference contrast, in conjunction with biophysical modelling.
