Celebrate Lunar New Year 2026 with us!
Register interest here!
On Thursday 12th February 4:00-6:30pm we'll be running an event for students across the computer science, mathematics and statistics departments. All levels of study are welcome (UG and PG) as are students on joint degrees!
To put a mathematical flair on the event, we'll be learning to make some traditional good luck knots (though unfortunately there won't be any formal knot theory about them!) as well as some paper lanterns. We'll then hang these decorations around the departments. You're also welcome to take your crafts home, or use them in your personal office! And if you don't want to join in with the crafts, you're also welcome to come along for socialising and some snacks.
We hope the event itself, as well as the festive decoration of the department, will help to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for students who celebrate — particularly those who are spending the holiday in the UK for the first time!
If you're interested in either attending, or helping out with some of the organisation of the event, feel free to let us know via this form. Or just turn up on the day!
