Science Christmas Lectures 2016

This year's science Christmas Lectures were another great success! There were six talks on science topics including gravitational waves in space, the science of emotions and the secret chemistry of home baking.

Professor Mike Shipman, Chair of the Faculty of Science, said this about the lectures;

These lectures provide a wonderful opportunity to welcome children, families and the local community to the University and share our love of science with them. So far people have been wired up to have their emotions monitored, snow has fallen all across the audience and the secrets behind search engines have been revealed. In the remaining lectures, we will be exploding cake ingredients and finding out how to disappear into a hole painted onto a wall, just like in cartoons! Hopefully, these talks will help inspire future generations of scientists and engineers.
