IASP World Congress on Pain 2022 & 2024
The WITHIN Study is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC). The project began in November 2019 and will end May 2023. It investigating how mental defeat can influence pain sensation, sleep patterns, social activity, physical activity and general health & wellbeing in individuals who have chronic pain. It is is a multi-modal project that consists of: a longitudinal questionnaire, sleep-tracking (experience sampling) study and a lab-based study. For an overview, click here.
The WITHIN Team consists of Prof Nicole Tang (PI), Dr Kristy Themelis (Post-Doctoral Researcher), Paige Karadag (Research Assistant) and Jenna Gillett (PhD Student).
The WITHIN Team are presenting at the IASP World Congress on Pain in September 2022 in Toronto, Canada!
Prof Nicole Tang will be delivering a talk on "Mental Defeat as a Pain-Related Psychosocial Predictor of Suicidality in Chronic Pain" as part of a topical workshop exploring "Pain, Substance Use Disorders And Suicide: Epidemiology, Theory, Assessment And Mitigation".
