Aleksey Jironkin
About Me:
I have graduated in 2009 from The University of Warwick after with MEng in Computer Science. Currently I am working on the plant promoter sequences with Sascha Ott and Katherine Denby.
My Interests:
My current research interest lies in the study of the promoter regions using A. thaliana. So far we have made an extensive study using A. thaliana, C. papaya, P. trichocarpa and V. vinifera, which has yielded a large number of possible regions where transcription factors might bind. The next step is to predict some transcription factor binding in silico, then try to validate those predictions with experiments.
A part from research I am involved with a number of different Open Source projects. In particular I maintain libface library, which aims to bring face detection and recognition to the Open Source community.
