PVLT: Simulation

The practice of producing physical prototypes in the automotive manufacturing design process is slowly coming to an end. In its place are simulated prototypes.

David Williams

"Simulation enables us to examine in detail many aspects of the material and product performance, and to a level that would not have been possible with a physical prototype."

David Williams, Simulation Project Manager.

Following on from the PARD Programme (2003-2008), the Simulation team at WMG is developing new simulation techniques that can cut down costs, time, and materials.

Simulation can tell us more about a component - its material and performance - than a physical prototype, and can be particularly useful when the product has a dimensionally challenging form.
