Project Description
Wellbeing is a complex matter to understand and even harder to define. This becomes more difficult when we consider specific areas, such as transport-related wellbeing In the past, the impact of changes to transport services and infrastructure have been measured in terms of economic, performance or environmental indicators. As such, little attention has been given to evaluating the effects on the wellbeing of the citizens.
With the rapid rise of new technologies in the transport sector, it is difficult to keep up with changing travel needs and preferences of the people and plan and design cities in a sustainable manner. Therefore, this project aims to evaluate the impact of travel choices that people make and support the government to make strategic decisions on policy, investments, infrastructure etc. for the future that has a balance of new and sustainable technologies in transport which is in alignment with the wellbeing of the citizens.
As part of this project, we have an opportunity to support an internship, to develop an online tool to support policymakers to make decisions that consider people’s wellbeing as an impact of their travel choices. This online tool will be offered to state and national governments in the future.
