The Challenge
To developing and test a framework for construction procurement. Main contractors are key players in successfully delivering completed projects in the construction industry. On the other hand, these contractors need an effective procurement that when prosecuted, will allow them to land that dream tender. Studies in the value of procurement has been neglected in the past, thus, allowing the opportunity for this study to complement existing literature.
The Outcome
Client has a major role in affecting the procurement process
In the research approach adopted in the study, the framework that was developed was tested against empirical data from Costain. Aimed at providing recommendations to Costain with the purpose of improving its procurement function, a thematic structure alignment with procurement steps was followed throughout the study. It is found that client has a major role in the procurement process, and this is beneficial for Costain to keep in mind when assembling a procurement.
