Academic integrity

Academic Integrity – Pedagogic research

Alexa Kirkaldy

Project description

The Academic Integrity Process, driven by the re-introduction of Regulation 11, is a somewhat overwhelming 'beast' for students to navigate and we know that students are often reluctant to engage in non-credit bearing teaching and formative assessments. The intern will undertake pedagogic research with a focus on increasing accessibility and engagement with academic integrity and study skills content.

The objectives of the research are:

  • To understand best practice in academic integrity and study skills education in the HE sector.
  • To compare these findings with the Warwick and WMG approaches to academic integrity and study skills education.
  • To investigate student preferences for the presentation, format and delivery of Academic integrity and study skills, both pre-enrolment and during their programme of study.
  • To specify a student-focused, student-friendly suite of information for incoming and newly enrolled students to help them navigate academic integrity.

This suite of information should support, enhance and decipher the student-facing Academic Integrity Framework materials for WMG students (https://warwick.ac.uk/students/supportservices/academic_integrity)

Duties and responsibilities

The intern would be responsible for deciphering the existing Academic Integrity framework and study skills materials and delivering recommendations to facilitate the transfer into a more 'friendly' and accessible format.

This could facilitate the use of media such as videos of 'mock academic conduct panels', 'news articles', light touch non-subject specific guidance documents to promote engagement with academic integrity and study skills.

Required skills

The intern should have developed or be willing to develop skills using and interrogating university databases, systematic literature review and to have a broad understanding of the impact of technology-enhanced learning.

Acquired skills

Working with multiple stakeholders, producing and presenting complex information in an accessible student-focussed format, academic integrity knowledge and specialism.
