China 2010

We have long-established connections with China since several of our staff have taught there. For example, our Director, Professor Helen Spencer-Oatey worked at Shanghai Jiaotong University for seven years in the 1980s and afterwards she managed the eChina-UK Programme on behalf of HEFCE. The extensive and popular Global People resources were developed out of that programme.

In 2010, the University of Warwick established a formal link with the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing. It currently entails a partnership between Warwick Applied Linguistics and UIBE’s School of International Studies in relation to our intercultural communication programmes. Postgraduate students studying at UIBE can study on our MSc Intercultural Communication for Business and the Professions and obtain a joint qualification, and our MSc students can go to UIBE for an experiential placement.
