Professor Xiaohong Zhang from Fujian University of Technology, China, is currently visiting us.

Prof. Huijuan (June) XUE, Associate Dean in the Department of Humanities and Management, Jiangxi Police Institute, China, is currently visiting us. Her research interests are international education, cross-cultural communication and English teaching, learning and testing. Following her doctoral research on Chinese students' experience in UK higher education at UWE, Bristol and other studies in international education, she is currently exploring the experience of international students undertaking HE in China, using Bourdieu's cultural capital theory.

Dr Xianju Yang from Zhejiang Gongshang University is currently visiting us.

Dr Dorien Van De Mieroop from the University of Leuven visited us for 4 months between April and July 2012.

Professor Kazuhiko Iino from Gunma National College of Technology visited us between 01/02/12 and 22/09/12.

Professor Winnie Cheng, Director of the Research Centre for Professional Communication in English at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, visited us from 28 June – 2 July 2011.

   
Professor Janet Holmes (May - June 2011)
Professor Cornelia Ilie (November 2010)

The renowned sociolinguist, Professor Janet Holmes, from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and an honorary professor of our Centre, visited us from 30 May - 2nd June. She gave a talk to staff, postgraduate students and visitors on "Constructing Leadership Identities in Intercultural Workplace Contexts" and ran a workshop on "Workplace Discourse: methods, analysis, applications".

Professor Cornelia Ilie, Professor of English linguistics at Malmö University, Sweden, visited our Centre, and the Dept of Politics and International Studies, for two days in November 2010. She gave a talk to staff and postgraduate students on “Gender Perspectives on Parliamentary Discourse, with particular reference to the UK Parliament and the Swedish Riksdag”, illustrating her talk with video clips from the two parliaments.

Dr. Hanna Tange (February - May 2010)
Professor Jin, Chair of the National College English Testing Committee of China and Professor in the School of Foreign Languages at Shanghai Jiaotong University, spent one month research leave with us in November 2010. During her stay, she met with our staff who are involved in CET-4 Item Review Project, and gave a guest talk to staff and postgraduate students on "The College English Test in China: Challenges and Opportunities". Dr Hanna Tange, from the Department of Language and Business Communication in the Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus, spent four months research leave at our Centre, February to May 2010. During her stay, she gave several talks on issues associated with the teaching of international students in Denmark.
