New Journal Publication - Dr Emily Henderson and Ahmad Akkad
We are pleased to note the new co-authored publication from Dr Emily Henderson and Ahmad Akkad, one of our PhD students, published in the Teaching in Higher Education Journal. The article, entitled 'Exploring the role of HE teachers as change agents in the reconstruction of post-conflict Syria', is based on Ahmad's MA Global Education and International Development dissertation work, and can be viewed online.
"Equitea" Seminar
Dr Emily Henderson and Dr James Burford were recently invited to present a seminar on "Inclusive Conferencing" by the "Equitea" forum in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Group at Warwick. The presentation focused on why inclusive conferences matter, and how to make conferences more inclusive from an organiser's and a delegate's perspective. The Department of Education Studies welcomes three new academic staff members
We are delighted to welcome three new members of staff, Dr Georgiana Mihut, Dr Jamie Burford and Dr Tom Perry.
Dr Georgiana Mihut
Before joining the department, Georgiana worked for Ireland's Economic and Social Research Institute, the American Council on Education, and the Boston College Centre for International Higher Education. Her research interests include comparative and international higher education, tertiary education policy, and access, equity, and stratification in education.
Dr Jamie Burford
James (Jamie) arrives to Warwick following on from academic postings at La Trobe University in Australia and Thammasat University in Thailand. He is interested in doctoral education, global higher education, the geopolitics of knowledge production, academic im/mobilities, and gender and sexuality in educational contexts. Jamie will be the new course leader for the MA programme, 'Global Education and International Development'.
Dr Tom Perry
Tom is joining us from the University of Birmingham, where he led the educational leadership master's programmes and taught about research methods and the use of research and evidence for educational improvement. He is interested in methodological and practical questions relating to research- and evidence-informed policy and practice. He specialises in research review and synthesis, secondary and quantitative data analysis, evaluation, and practitioner enquiry.
