Discussion Focus:

Does the international legal order on which traditional international law scholarship and teaching is premised need to be re-examined in light of modern globalization which some perceive as the beginning of a new order? Drawing on these publications our three authors would like to engage a discussion on the changing regulatory basis and authority of international law in our global and inter-connected economy and its implications for the communities and individuals it seeks to represent. Bridging the divide in the scholarship and practice of international law, the authors will discuss the urgent need to re-shape and re-orientate research and teaching of international law in order for the discipline to meaningfully respond to today's complex and global issues.

Esteemed Discussants:

  • Dr. Michelle Staggs Kelsall , Lecturer in International Law, School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.
  • Dr Daria Davitti, Assistant Professor in Law, University of Nottingham.
  • Dr Celine Tan, Reader in Law, University of Warwick.
  • Dr Giedre Jokubauskaite, Lecturer in International Law, University of Glasgow
