Economics ranked 2nd in the Good University Guide 2027

The Department of Economics is delighted to announce that it has been ranked 2nd in the UK in the specialist subject table for Economics in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027, published on 18 September 2026.

Published annually, the Good University Guide ranks UK universities across a range of measures, including teaching quality, student satisfaction, research quality, entry standards and graduate prospects.

With an overall score of 99.5%, Warwick Economics is placed second only to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), ahead of Cambridge, Oxford and St Andrews.

This latest result adds to a strong run of success for the Department across major national and international league tables.

Our recent achievements also include high positions in other important league tables:

  • 25th in the world for Economics and Econometrics in the QS World University Rankings 2026, published in March 2026
  • 2nd in the Complete University Guide 2027, published in June 2026
  • 5th in the Guardian University Guide 2027, published in September 2026

Professor Jeremy Smith, Head of Department of Economics, said:

"This recognition reflects the exceptional environment we have built for our students to learn, develop and succeed. We are proud to combine world-leading research with an engaging and supportive educational experience that prepares our graduates to make an impact across a wide range of careers. I would like to thank our staff and students for their ongoing commitment, which makes achievements like this possible.”
