Launch Event, Brussels, Sept. 21st
September 21st, 16.30- 19.30, Residence Palace, Brussels
Exactly a week after the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum’s “New Champions” meeting ends in Dalian, the IMF and World Bank will open their annual meeting in Washington DC. That these meetings are being held in China and the USA is symbolic of the “new” and “old” centres of power in the global political economy, and the changing balance of authority between them; and the implications of this changing global order will be on the agenda at both events.
Europe is not just a passive observer; but it faces a number of challenges (both internal and external) to ensure that European interests are defined, articulated, and promoted in ways that influence these ongoing processes of global change. These challenges go to the very heart of the nature of the EU as a global actor – an issue which itself is at the heart of the GR:EEN research agenda.
On September 21st, directly in between these two events, the GR:EEN project will address Europe’s role and place within this changing global order. Join us at our launch event in Brussels as we explore the nature of the EU in a multi-polar world through a panel discussion and open debate.
