Art Series, Eduardo Paolozzi

Displayed in the Philosophy Department at the University of Warwick, Wittgenstein the Soldier by Eduardo Paolozzi is part of his 1965 screen print series As Is When, inspired by the writings of Ludwig Wittgenstein. Merging philosophical text with vibrant collage, Paolozzi explores the intersection of logic, language, and modern life. A pioneer of Pop Art, Paolozzi once called himself a “wizard in Toytown,” blending science fiction, machinery, and mass culture long before it was mainstream. This piece not only reflects Wittgenstein’s intellectual legacy but also Paolozzi’s playful, visionary spirit.
