Early edition of Pli

Founded in 1988 by Warwick Philosophy doctoral students, the Warwick Journal of Philosophy began as a platform for graduate research. In Volume 3, it adopted the name Pli—French for “fold”—in tribute to Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy of reality as continuous folding and unfolding. With striking cover art by Karen Davison, Pli has since become a respected annual publication, featuring contributions from major thinkers including Derrida, Deleuze, Nancy, and Stengers. Still active today, it reflects Warwick’s enduring commitment to experimental, interdisciplinary, and student-led philosophical inquiry.
