Phil/Lit Weekend in Wales
This photo captures a snowy weekend in Wales, part of a long-standing Warwick Philosophy and Literature tradition. Led by Martin Warner, a founder of the degree, these retreats blended creative engagement with texts, fresh air, and community spirit. Students and faculty explored works through performance—once reanimating The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Beckett’s Texts for Nothing, and on this occasion, ghost stories. With help from theatre director Jonny Heron, the weekends were playful, profound, and occasionally wacky. On this trip, they even cooked together—proof that philosophy thrives in kitchens as well as classrooms.
