Six Philosophy students win Warwick Advantage Awards

Six students from the Philosophy department have won 2011 Warwick Advantage Awards, with two of them winning Gold Awards. The awards recognize students who have been able to demonstrate commitment to, and learning from, their extra-curricular activities, and are able to present their learning from these experiences in a compelling way, including to potential employers. Congratulations to this year’s winners!

Warwick Transcendental Realism Workshop

Time: Tuesday 11th of May, 12:00pm (registration) - 7:30pm
Location: University of Warwick, LIB2 and S0.11
Organised by Pli: The Warwick Journal of Philosophy, in conjunction with the Research Group in Post-Kantian European Philosophy

The purpose of the workshop is to examine the arguments underlying the increasing push towards realism in parts of modern continental philosophy, along with approaches that bridge the analytic/continental divide, and to assess the possibility of transcendental approaches to realism within this context.

Aesthetics of Photography Lecture by Patrick Maynard - 3rd Feb 2009

Patrick Maynard (Emeritus Professor, University of Western Ontario) will visit the University of Warwick to present a lecture for the undergraduate Module 'Aesthetics and Photography' (PH249). He will discuss his theory of photography, published in The Engine of Visualisation: Thinking Through Photography. http://publish.uwo.ca/~pmaynard/
