Call for Abstracts

The theme of this year is Transformations and Innovations in Language, Education, and Lifelong Learning. Through this theme, we aim to foster dialogue that bridges disciplines, challenges assumptions, and inspires new ways of thinking about learning across the lifespan. In this conference, we provide a space for participants to reflect on how research, pedagogy, and professional practice are evolving in response to rapidly changing social, cultural, and technological landscapes.

Abstract submission deadline: Friday 15th May 2026

All successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Monday 15th June 2026

Guidelines for Submissions

What to Submit?

We encourage submissions of empirical, conceptual/ theoretical nature and findings from dissertations/ PhD at different stages. We welcome submissions for:

  • Live oral presentations (15 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A)
  • Poster presentations
  • Lightning talks (5 minutes)

All formats require a submitted abstract.

Submissions must be within our core Conference tracks:

1. Research Methods, Innovation and Technology

  • Conventional and emerging research methods & methodological innovation
  • The role of new technologiesin shaping research design, data collection, and analysis

2.Inclusion, Equity and Social Justice in Education and Communication

  • Equitable educational practices & accessibility
  • Inclusive communication and promoting social justice
  • Inclusive learning and special education

3. Language, culture, identity, and multilingual communication practices

  • Language teaching and teacher training in diverse linguistic contexts
  • Language teacher or learner identity
  • Native speakerism

4. Lifelong Learning, Professional Development and Informal Education

  • Learning across the lifespan, adult and lifelong learning
  • Professional development, and technology-mediated informal learning
  • Diversity and intersectionality, including gender, dis/ability, race and ethnicity, nationality

5. Education Systems, Policy and Global Change

  • Teaching practices, teacher training and pedagogy
  • Education policy, educational reforms, and responses to global challenges
  • Childhood, early years, primary education, secondary education, further and higher education
  • Sustainability and education
Who Should Submit?

We welcome submissions from graduates, postgraduate, early researchers at any stage of their programme, from Warwick and beyond, whose work connects with education, language, communication, or lifelong learning in its broadest sense.

You may apply to present either individually or as a group.

Advice on Abstracts

Abstracts should be no more than 2,100 characters in length.

  • 150–250 words (excluding references)

  • Include title, author name(s), affiliation, subtheme, and 3–5 keywords

  • Submit via the online form on our conference webpage

Make sure that your abstract includes:

  • An introduction has a clear background and rationale,
  • Well defined, reachable research objectives which are related to the topic of the abstract, and address the research purpose,
  • A clearly detailed methodology, even if at this stage it is just a proposed methodology,
  • Results/expected results which are well presented, understandable for the audience, and are related to the methodology and rationale of the study,
  • A conclusion consistent with the introduction and rationale of the abstract.

All abstracts will be double-blind reviewed and are subject to final approval by the conference committee.

 

Notification of Acceptance

Authors of accepted abstracts, who will be invited to present their paper, will be notified of their acceptance by 15th June 2026.

Paper Presentations

Each presentation should not exceed 20 minutes (15-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A session). You can apply to present either individually or as a group.

Conference Proceedings

Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to have their abstract published in the Conference’s digital booklet. We will not be publishing full papers.
