Rafto Foundation Human Rights Prize for Parveena Ahangar and Parvez Imroz

The Rafto Foundation has awarded the 2017 Rafto Prize to Parveena Ahangar (leader and co-founder of The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons - APDP) and Parvez Imroz (President of the Jammu-Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society) for their extraordinary work on campaigning for basic human rights in Indian-held Kashmir, in one of the world’s most militarized zones.

On the 4th of November, Dr. Goldie Osuri participated in a public conference held by the Rafto Foundation in advance of the award ceremony. At the public conference, the Rafto laureates gave their keynote speeches on human rights in Kashmir. Alongside other experts, Dr. Osuri spoke on Human Rights and International Solidarity - a talk directed at an international human rights community regarding recommendations addressing human rights in Kashmir.

Pollution, Health, and Global Governance: Roundtable Discussion and Film Screening of 'Warriors of Qiugang'

Issues of pollution are often raised within debates about global environmental governance, but primarily in relation to smog and climate change, rather than global health.
This informal roundtable discussion invites panellists from different fields to discuss the important theme of pollution, health, and global environmental governance. Refreshments available throughout the event and wine and nibbles afterwards.

 


Dr Stella Chatzitheochari to Speak at the Disabled Children Conference 2015

Disabled Children Conference 2015: Promoting and Empowering the Rights of Disabled Children and Young People - Children in Wales takes place on 11 November 2015 in Cardiff. Dr Stella Chatzitheochari will be speaking about the Trajectories and Transitions of Disabled Children and Young People, an 18 month ESRC-funded research study which looked into the outcomes for disabled children and young people in England.
