University Audit Cultures and Feminist Praxis: an Institutional Ethnography
featuring Dr Órla Meadhbh Murray (Northumbria University)

The event will include a presentation by Dr Murray on her new book. This will be followed by a Q&A session. A vegan/vegetarian lunch will be provided.
 
Abstract:
Being ‘REF-able’. The impact agenda. The student experience. University audit culture has infiltrated academic life, but how should we respond?
Drawing on a five-year Institutional Ethnography of UK universities, Órla Meadhbh Murray will provide a feminist take on the neoliberal university and abolitionist reflections on audit culture.
 
Speaker Bio:
Órla Meadhbh Murray (she/ they) is an Assistant Professor of Criminology and Sociology at Northumbria University Newcastle and a Fellow at the Institute for Medical Humanities at Durham University. Their research focuses on inequalities in higher education, imposter syndrome, and the politics of knowledge production. She is the co-founder of the Institutional Ethnography Network and regularly runs Institutional Ethnography training workshops. Their current project is called Gut Feelings, taking a queer feminist approach to the gut.
