Inquiry and Research Skills (IRS) Conference
Colleagues are warmly invited to attend this year’s Inquiry and Research Skills (IRS) Conference, where our International Foundation Programme (IFP) students will be showcasing their independent research through academic poster presentations.
Event details:
Wednesday 27 May 2026 | 09:00 – 16:00 | FAB Building (Agora)
This event offers a great opportunity to explore the range and quality of our students work, engage in informal discussions, and support students as they present and reflect on their research. As part of their assessment, students will also take part in two one-to-one discussions with members of staff, and we welcome colleagues to contribute to this vibrant academic environment by dropping in, asking questions, and sharing their insights.
Members of Council attended last years conference and commented:
“I’m really very impressed with the level of detail in the posters. The study level is equivalent to that of second-year undergraduates.” - Jayne Nickalls
“Empowering students to showcase their research not only supports their development but contributes to the future of academic research. The confidence and quality shown, especially in a second language, is fantastic—a real credit to their teachers.” - Neil Sachdev MBE
This year the conference will take place in the FAB Building (Agora) on central campus from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Feel free to visit at any point during the day, or join us for specific subject sessions:
- 09:00 – 13:00 Business and Finance
- 12:00 – 14:00 Maths
- 13:00 – 15:00 Science
- 14:00 – 16:00 Social Science, Economics, Law and Arts
Whether you can spare a short visit or stay longer, your presence will help make this a rewarding and supportive experience for our students.
