My Bio
I am an Assistant Professor in Warwick Foundation Studies with over four decades of experience in education, including previous roles as a secondary Headteacher, Director of Studies, and international educational consultancy. I specialise in English for Global Communication, teacher education, and professional development, and hold Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). I am also a graduate of the Aurora Leadership Programme (Advance HE) and a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT).I joined the University of Warwick in 2010 as Director of Studies for Short Courses and, later, Assistant Professor. From 2010 to 2023, I have led a diverse portfolio of academic English and interdisciplinary programmes, working with international university partners and professional bodies. From 2012 – 2020, I was Assistant Director on the Warwick University Pre-sessional English Programme. My recent work includes teaching on a diverse portfolio of Short Course programmes, designing pre-departure and online courses for international cohorts, and leading bespoke teacher development programmes for global partners including the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the Indonesian Ministry of Education.My research interests lie in transformative learning, digital pedagogy, and the ethical and sustainable use of AI in education. I have contributed to British Council-funded research, co-authored journal articles, and presented at international conferences including IATEFL, TESOL Arabia, and the Warwick Education Conference. I maintain active membership in WIHEA, IATEFL, and the Warwick Active Learning Network.Throughout my career, I have prioritised innovation, inclusion, and cross-institutional collaboration—whether through leading teaching teams, mentoring early career colleagues, or contributing to the Department’s Athena Swan and EDI work..Qualifications
