My Bio
I have taught the History of Art, curated exhibitions and worked with a number of art organisations including: The University of Warwick, The University of Birmingham, The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, The De Morgan Foundation, Lakeland Arts, Towneley Hall, Guild Hall, London, Delaware Art Museum.
My interdisciplinary research specialism and interests lie in British art, design and architecture produced during the period 1840-1940, especially modernist practice and the exhibiting of the same.
My previous research has examined the western art canon in relation to the representation of feminine identity and belief systems during the First World War. My current research is concerned with how British artists and art groups during the inter-war period (1919-39) used allusions to occultism and spiritualism in their work in order to represent and shape pacifist concepts in a time of increasing social and political turmoil.
