Further Induction Information

Face-to-Face Induction: Monday 13 June, 2022 @The Shard, London

Date : Monday 13 June, 2022

Arrival : Registration/refreshments from 10.15am for a prompt 11.00am start

Where : The Shard, London - please note there is airport style security and only those registered can attend.

A light lunch will be catered for at The Shard. Please make sure you have notified mentoring@wbs.ac.uk of any dietary or access requirements. Deadline for dietary requirements is Wednesday 25 May 2022

Meet your Mentee*: At the end of the induction at 15.15, there is the opportunity to meet your mentee. This first meeting is all about getting to know one another and we allow just over an hour. We explain more at induction. We encourage participants to attend whether or not their matched partner is attending

New Mentors: there is an additional Q&A session at 15.30 to help answer any further questions, then your welcome to leave.

Existing WBS Mentors: We do not expect mentor's to attend an induction every year. However, we do encourage re-visiting periodically. Existing WBS Mentor's are welcome to join us from lunchtime onwards (c. 12.30); as instructed in your email.
Important: Confirm your attendance by emailing mentoring@wbs.ac.uk by 9am Thursday 19 May 2022.

What to bring: Perhaps something to write notes. We will however, provide you with a pack of information, including your both your profile and your matched mentee profile.

Arrival details : Arrival details will be emailed 2-3 days before the induction.

  • Tuesday 21 June 17.00-19.00 (BST)

Pre work: Pre-induction work is sent out a week before the induction. This includes videos to watch, a PowerPoint/PDF to read, and time to prepare questions for the remote session.

During the session: It is a fully interactive session, with breakout small group work. Attendance is monitored throughout the two hours. We recommend being in a quiet space, with a microphone and camera.

Meet your Mentee: Once inducted, we will formally connect you with your Mentee which involves us providing you with their contact details. NB: everything is explained at induction.

New WBS Mentors: All new WBS Mentor's need to attend an induction, before we connect you with your first relationship

Existing WBS Mentors: We do not require mentor's to attend year on year but we do encourage revisiting and refreshing periodically. If it has been 3-4 year's since your last induction we highly encourage you to revisit, the remote induction has completely changed, it includes breakout group work outlining the latest messages and best practices, some of which has evolved over the years. Attendance now is for the full two-hours and we connect you with your mentee after induction. Please email mentoring@wbs.ac.uk 

Remember: to dedicate the full 2 hours to the session.

The session requires interactivity and full participation. Attendance is recorded throughout the session. Those unable to fully commit may be asked to re-join another session.
