Visit Coventry

Coventry has more history than you can manage in a single visit, from the ruined mediaeval cathedral to the modern day art found in the Herbert gallery.

You can get into Coventry by bus from the bus interchange on campus (buses run every 10-15 minutes throughout the day, see here for timetables, or by taxi which run from the same area) to Pool Meadow bus station, from where it is a short walk to:


Herbert Art Gallery & Museum: Permanent galleries range from the visual arts to social and industrial history, archaeology and natural history. Temporary exhibitions during the PIM conference include: Grown Up In Britain – 100 Years Of Teenage Kicks; Ali Cherri: If You Prick Us, Do We Not Bleed? (Free admission.)

Coventry Cathedral(s): In the remains of Coventry's second cathedral, and its magnificent, modernist third, there is a lot to see and explore, great and small. (No cost, donations welcome.)

 Coventry Transport Museum: Coventry Transport Museum houses the largest publicly owned collection of British vehicles on the planet and tells the story of a city which changed the world through transport. (Cost - £14 per adult in advance, £15.50 on the day.)

Fargo village: an artistically re-purposed industrial space in Coventry City Centre, designed exclusively for creative, independent businesses and like-minded visitors. There is an eclectic mix of independent businesses, from artisan food to a Sgt Bilko museum.

The Coventry Music Museum: a permanent independent museum, run by unpaid volunteers, this was the life-long vision of a local historian and journalist who wanted to promote Coventry and Warwickshire music. (Cost - £4 per adult.)
